The connections we all share

by Santos Gallegos

I feel the connection we all share as humans with each other and to an extent with the animals, them being creatures as well, is undeniable.  I think we are all energy.  I feel we have all pretty much been brain washed or hypnotized by mother culture: Put in and follow orders! Which I feel is completely untrue and I’m compelled to believe other people feel its untrue as well..  To me enlightenment is any rabbi, priest, Buddhist whoever has come to realize that enlightenment is self made. I guess you could say, but some approach by different means. (Shucks, who knows?  My mind is throbbing!)

Bottom line: we have all been pulled away from our true mother nature as CREATORS!

Similarities between Vedanta and Navaho Beliefs

by Shane Toledo

We’ve read a passage from the Bhagavad Gita, and I’m surprised to see that there are some similarities to my culture. About how we are here to find our inner divine being.  The same could be said when we fast and seek a vision.  The divine power doesn’t exist in the creator but rather we possess it and just don’t realize it. The power of prayer and meditation; prayer in a higher power, meditation to find the way to what we seek.  Just as Arjuna surrendered himself to Krisna,  if I were to meditate and focus my energy I too would get and answer from he who is my higher power.  So at the end of this road that I call life I would know where I’m going and what will become of me besides dust and memories.

The purpose of life is to realize God

by Alonzo Dale

I learned a lot about my self over the past 10 months here at MDC. It’s funny how I finally realize how blessed I was while I was in the outside world. Beautiful woman, beautiful baby girl, and a son who never failed to put a smile on my face.  Going through the heart ache of being away from them made me remember that I am a father, brother, uncle, and a son, not just a picture, or a name to be counted daily.  At the end of my stay here I will once again smile, love, laugh and be free!

Reflections on the Bhagavad Gita

by Jonathan Ray

The Purpose of life is to Realize God

I relate to this phrase because I spent most of my youth and adulthood lost, using tangible items to satisfy my happiness.

The drinking, fighting, one night stands, it all adds up to one thing: having respect for yourself.

Once you identify self awareness, you might push forward and search for a Higher Power.

Reincarnation/The purpose of Life

by Raymond C Debaca

Reincarnation is a big subject and many people have different views on it.  My belief is when you die you are reincarnated. It depends I guess, how you lived your life as to what you will come back as.  And if you’ve lived your whole life without finding your purpose that’s when you start over in another body.  Everybody is put here to serve a purpose and its your mission to discover what that purpose is and fulfill it.

Connection

by Jose Pollock

It’s hard for me to say I have no connection to the circle of life being a Catholic.  But I feel that we are all connected in big and small ways just depending on what revolution of the circle we are on.  Its more scientific than spiritual, I think.
